ClineCode

MCP servers

MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers give ClineCode new tools: drive a browser, look up current library docs, keep notes between sessions. Add one with a single command.

Only add servers you trust. An MCP server runs on your computer with your permissions, and the agent can call its tools. The servers below are third-party projects, not made by ClineCode. Read their documentation before you install them.

How it works

Run these in your terminal, outside ClineCode. The server is available the next time you start clinecode.

Add

Give the server a name, then the command that starts it.

$ clinecode mcp add <name> -- <command>

List

See what’s installed and whether it connects.

$ clinecode mcp list

Remove

Take a server out again.

$ clinecode mcp remove <name>

Browsers

Let the agent open pages, click, fill forms and read what’s on screen.

Playwright

by Microsoft

Browser automation: navigate, click, type and take snapshots of pages. Useful for testing your web app end to end.

$ clinecode mcp add playwright -- npx @playwright/mcp@latest

Chrome DevTools

by Google

Inspect a live Chrome: console messages, network requests, performance traces and screenshots.

$ clinecode mcp add chrome-devtools -- npx chrome-devtools-mcp@latest

Knowledge

Give the agent information it doesn’t have by default.

Context7

by Upstash

Up-to-date documentation and code examples for libraries and frameworks, fetched when the agent needs them.

$ clinecode mcp add context7 -- npx -y @upstash/context7-mcp

Memory

MCP reference server

A small knowledge graph the agent can write to and read from, so facts survive between sessions.

$ clinecode mcp add memory -- npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-memory

Sequential Thinking

MCP reference server

A tool for working through a problem step by step and revising earlier steps.

$ clinecode mcp add thinking -- npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-sequential-thinking

Files and services

Filesystem

MCP reference server

Read and write files in folders you choose, outside the project ClineCode was started in.

$ clinecode mcp add files -- npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem ~/Documents

Replace ~/Documents with the folder you want to share.

Sentry

by Sentry

Look up errors and issues from your Sentry projects. A remote server: it asks you to sign in to Sentry.

$ clinecode mcp add --transport http sentry https://mcp.sentry.dev/mcp

Add any other server

Any MCP server works. Servers that need a key take it as an environment variable:

$ clinecode mcp add -e API_KEY=your-key my-server -- npx my-mcp-server
